He remembers his Grandpa Ben Hull having a root cellar when he was a little boy. He had a dog house shack type of thing on the back of his house. When Troy would come over to his house he would have Troy crawl into the cellar to get carrots and potatoes. His Grandpa would tell him to get in there "Hell fire, those spiders won't hurt you". When Troy would throw the carrots out his Grandpa would say, "Boy, oh boy, look at those carrots!"
He remembers that he had a layer of moist sand with a layer of carrots and then a burlap sack. He would repeat this till his hole was full. The burlap sack was so he could garb a bunch of carrots at once. So Troy did just that. Troy was right, our first snow came the next day! This was the second week of October.

Wow, You learn something new everyday. I didn't think people still did things like that. Troy you are so resourceful. Our carrots are barely growing. At least it seems that way. I would love to see them get to be normal size.
